Beware of scammers

I’ve been meaning to post this for a long time. No, this has nothing to do with internet security. These are real-life scammers who make use of people’s worries and ignorance to cheat them off their hard-earned money.

This is very real, and can happen to you and anyone around you. Especially if you are living in Malaysia or Singapore.

Worthy of Love

I have been feeling very low lately. So I seek a little help and remembered about Steve Pavlina’s blog, then I came across his wife Erin’s blog. She has a lot of wonderful entries and insights that I know will be of much help to me. This entry “You Are Worthy of Love” is exactly what I needed at this moment.

I have another journal entry from an acquaintance with the same effect, and I am eternally grateful to the both of them for writing them.

Download to donate for Haiti

I saw this before but never really checked it out. Now that I did, I felt that I should share as well. The Linkin Park song ‘Not Alone’ is really nice and the video (on Youtube) is heartbreaking.

The embedded player is a little big and I don’t know how to shrink it properly, so please ‘Read more’ to view it.

The lady who sells chocolate

Yesterday, I went shopping with my mum and sister for the upcoming Chinese New Year and somehow, we went to the newly launched Orchard Central shopping mall. Originally we went there in search for Fruit Paradise, a shop selling fruit tartsĀ  which has an outlet in Tampines One that we frequent. The plan was to find it, eat a slice of fruit tart or two, before we continue with our shopping.

Then, we spotted a shop, called Jewels artisan chocolate (facebook).

On Tablets & e-book readers

When I was younger, still in secondary school some nine years ago, I wondered why books cannot be in a digital format and we will be able to carry them in lightweight handheld book sized devices. How nice will it be, if all textbooks, homework and notes can be contained within it so all we have to carry about is that one device, and we can stop killing trees too. Best is if we can write directly on it, that would be even more convenient.

SG Youth Olympics 2010

I saw a notice on UniSIM about being volunteer for this and I’m wondering if I should join. Especially since I’m not working now. And this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, to help out in such a big event.

It probably will affect my job seeking for this year and while I’m not in a hurry to start working again, my school fees won’t exactly pay for themselves. Decisions decisions. Hmm.

Big change, unemployed.

Due to certain reasons, company had to let go of a number of people and thus I’m unemployed now. To say it’s not a shock to me is lying, especially with how sudden it is, especially with the number of people whom I’m closer to who were also affected, and I am still coming to terms with it. To suddenly become unemployed without warning is quite an experience, I’ll say. One I will never ever want to experience again.

L> Entertainment

Oh, I do get a lot of those. Really. My afterwork de-stressing with Resistance 2 Online Coop is a wonderful way to clear my mind of the work-stuff-cobwebs in my mind. And I’ve been watching movies at home, and will be catching Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen tomorrow. <3

But I’m actually thinking about something else.

Internet Explorer’s serious security flaw

Got an email forwarded to me with this article (Patch For Major Internet Explorer Flaw) and it was quite alarming. I’m a Mozilla Firefox user, but sometimes I have to resort to IE because of some websites’ compatibility with it. What a year. There was the DNS exploit several months ago, then the issue with the mass hacking situation in MapleSEA (since game passwords are being targeted)… I’m seriously thinking about changing my passwords again.
